Why We Do This Work

Pension schemes can fail for countless reasons. Poor investment decisions, administrative errors, mis-selling, or even outright fraud. Whatever the cause, the impact on your retirement can be devastating.

We founded Solar Claim after witnessing too many people struggle alone with opaque processes and unhelpful providers. Our belief is straightforward: if you've been let down by a pension scheme, you deserve expert support to put things right.

Every case we take on receives the same meticulous attention. We don't process claims on an assembly line. Instead, we build a detailed understanding of your specific situation and pursue the outcome you deserve.

What Our Clients Say

"After being mis-sold a SIPP in 2015, I thought I'd lost a significant portion of my retirement fund. Solar Claim helped me navigate the complaints process and ultimately recovered £47,000. The relief is indescribable."

Margaret T., Cardiff

"I had three separate pensions from previous employers that I'd completely forgotten about. The team traced them all, and the combined value was far more than I expected. Now everything's consolidated and easier to manage."

James R., Manchester

"The advisor who recommended I transfer out of my NHS pension clearly didn't have my best interests at heart. Solar Claim took on my case when I didn't know where to turn. They fought for eighteen months and won."

Understanding Pension Claims

When Transfer Advice Goes Wrong

Transferring from a defined benefit pension is rarely in your best interest. Advisors who recommended this often prioritised their commission over your retirement security. If you transferred after 2015 and have since seen poor returns, you may have grounds for compensation.

The British Steel Scandal

Thousands of steelworkers were advised to leave their company pension scheme during the 2016-2017 period. Many of these recommendations were unsuitable. If you were affected, time limits may apply to your claim, so early action is essential.

High-Risk Investments in SIPPs

Self-Invested Personal Pensions offer flexibility, but some advisors placed client funds into entirely inappropriate high-risk investments. If your SIPP contains assets like overseas property, storage pods, or unregulated schemes, this is a red flag.

Recognising Pension Scams

Legitimate pension providers don't cold-call. If you were contacted out of the blue and encouraged to access your pension early or move it to an unfamiliar scheme, you may have been targeted by fraudsters. We can help assess your situation.

Common Questions

For complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service, you typically have six years from the date of the event, or three years from when you first became aware there was a problem. However, the Ombudsman can use discretion in exceptional cases. The sooner you act, the stronger your position.

We work on a success-fee basis for most claims. If we don't recover compensation for you, you don't pay us. Our standard fee is 25% plus VAT of any amount recovered. For complex cases requiring specialist legal input, we'll discuss terms upfront. There are no hidden charges.

Yes. If the firm that advised you has ceased trading, you can apply to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. The FSCS can pay compensation up to £85,000 per person per firm. We regularly assist clients with FSCS applications.

The more documentation you can provide, the better, but don't worry if records are incomplete. We can request information from providers on your behalf using data access rights. Typical useful documents include advice letters, transfer statements, annual statements, and any correspondence with advisors.

If the initial response is unfavourable, we assess whether there are grounds to challenge the decision. This might involve providing additional evidence, escalating to the Financial Ombudsman, or in rare cases, considering legal action. We'll advise you on the best path forward based on the specifics of your case.
